I Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti spiazzano con un deciso cambio di rotta. Il sesto album ufficiale della loro carriera «Primitivi Del Futuro» (La Tempesta/Venus) esplora territori musicali inediti al trio pordenonese. Una piccola rivoluzione dub con una dominante cromatica blu. Fondamentale per questa svolta l’incontro con il produttore e musicista Paolo Baldini (B.R. Stylers, Africa Unite, Dub Sync). Un disco in levare, quindi. Sullo sfondo, c’è il punk e le contaminazioni della new wave. Vengono in mente i Clash, i Police ma anche i più moderni Vampire Weekend (che traggono le sonorità da un’Africa vagheggiata dalla cameretta di un college statunitense e riescono a farlo in maniera credibile). La critica ha apprezzato e premiato il coraggio e lo spessore dei TARM, che avrebbero potuto indugiare nei territori sicuri del loro rock’n’roll adolescenziale, mettendo in scena “l’incredibile spettacolo della vita/ l’incredibile spettacolo della morte”, ripetendo le formule e i tormentoni della loro carriera fatta di “bacini e r’n’r”. E invece, Davide Toffolo (voce, chitarra e fumetti), Enrico Molteni (basso) e Luca Masseroni (batteria) hanno scelto una strada in salita e hanno dato luce ad un disco adulto, malinconico e denso. Riuscendo anche a suonare più internazionali: ci si può far trasportare dalla musica anche senza seguire le parole (operazione impossibile con i lavori precedenti). Non a caso, la masterizzazione è stata fatta al Wolf Studio di Brixton, il quartiere di Londra immortalato dai Clash nella celebre «The Guns Of Brixton». Ciò non toglie che i testi abbiano la loro importanza: i protagonisti cantano di un mondo rovinato che assomiglia molto al nostro: «Prendi a calci il tuo padrone non lo fai/ rimetti in moto la ragione non lo fai» (da: «L’ultima rivolta nel quartiere Villanova non ha fatto feriti»), di gente reale con «occhi storti e un dente di ferro» («Mina»), di amore e morte («La ballata delle ossa») e dell’origine dell’alienazione della specie («Primitivi del futuro»). Ma le canzoni dei Ragazzi Morti sono una specie di antidoto all’orrore quotidiano e anche in questo lavoro non mancano gli elementi per reagire («La cattedrale di Palermo») e per ristabilire i giusti rapporti tra l’uomo e la bellezza della natura («Codalunga»). O nel finale del singolo che dà il titolo all’album, che recita: «E come la primavera per capire che siamo ancora belli e che non sarà l’azione dell’uomo a renderci infelici». La presenza di panorami sonori alieni è così spiegata da Toffolo ad XL di Repubblica: «Nei periodi politicamente neri il reggae è un’ottima musica da suonare. Noi Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti incontriamo i Caraibi in questa specie di horror, il nostro disco più cinematografico. Abbiamo ascoltato tanto reggae e dub e c’è rimasto attaccato il voodoo».
